I am an end unit condo in an area that feels like the country, in fact there’s even a bunch of goats as neighbors! However, we are only 10-15 mins away from the city life! My home has two bedrooms, both with their own bathrooms and showers. You are welcome to stay in either. Washer and dryer, private patio and garage to use as you wish. You should have everything that you would need during your stay and if anything is missing there is a Fred Meyer, Safeway, and Costco just 5 mins away!!

Find a house sitter

Still hesitating to book that vacation or take on business trips because you're worried about leaving your home and pets unattended? Worry no more – the solution is simple. Join the Flatrover community to connect with reliable, trusted house sitters! With verified profiles, ratings, reviews, and seamless booking options, finding the perfect person to care for your home has never been easier.

Why Seek For a Pet and House Sitter?

Leaving your home alone while you're away can feel risky. What if something goes wrong? And who's going to take care of your four-legged friends? A trusted house sitter can take care of it all:

  • Maintenance. You'll need a house sitter to handle the little things, like watering plants, picking up mail, or dealing with any surprise issues.
  • Security. Having someone stay in your home keeps it safer by deterring break-ins.
  • Pet Care. Many house sitters are great with pets, so you know your furry family members will get all the love and attention they need.

And most importantly, no more stressing about whether you left the curling iron on or forgot to lock the back door. The house sitter will take care of everything, and they can even send you daily updates by phone or email so you always know how things are going.

When you've found the perfect house sitter, it only takes a few minutes to book them through Flatrover's secure system. Easy, right?

What Makes a Trustworthy Pet and House Sitter?

It's always advisable to look for someone with experience, especially if you have pets. Professional house sitters may even offer liability insurance, covering accidents or damage. But experience isn't always necessary – a first-timer might work perfectly, too. Here's what to check:

  • Background. Ensure they've passed a criminal records check and aren't listed on any watchlists or sex offender registries. This way, you’ll make sure that the sitter doesn’t have a history of criminal behavior that can jeopardize the security or well-being of the home or its owners. It’s a necessary step for your peace of mind, especially if the sitter will have access to valuables or sensitive information.
  • ID. Their identity has been confirmed using a government-issued ID. It allows you to be certain that the person you hire is exactly who they claim to be and they’re not misrepresenting their identity.
  • References. A credibility reference from someone who can vouch for them – like a pet owner, neighbor, landlord, or employer. These sources can speak to the sitter’s history of punctuality, trustworthiness, and ability to handle tasks responsibly. For sitters who have worked with animals or managed specific home needs, professional references are especially useful

Most importantly, trust your gut. Talk to them, ask questions, and keep in touch. If something doesn't feel right, it's okay to move on to the next candidate.

Pet and House Sitter Responsibilities Explained

Every home is unique, so your needs might differ from those of other homeowners. But knowing what house sitters typically do can help you set clear expectations. Here are some common tasks they handle:

  • Home Security. They'll keep an eye on windows, doors, and alarm systems to ensure everything is safe. It also includes arming and disarming alarms for homes equipped with security systems, exterior and interior checks, etc.
  • Pet Care. From feeding and walking to grooming and giving medication, they'll take great care of your furry friends.
  • General Maintenance. House sitters can water your plants, take out the trash, and handle basic chores around the house. And if you’re gone for an extended period, house sitters might take care of many seasonal maintenance tasks, like shoveling snow off the driveway or ensuring gutters remain unclogged.
  • Emergency Handling. If something goes wrong – like a leak or a power outage – they're there to deal with it.
  • Mail Collection. They'll make sure your mail, packages, and newspapers are collected and secured.

These responsibilities can vary based on what you need, so clear communication is key. Share your expectations, stay in touch, and be open to help them when necessary. With a bit of teamwork, everyone will be happy with the arrangement.
