Sitter in Washington
there’s not much to say that hasn’t already been whispered to a cat at 2am. i don’t do loud, i don’t do rush, and i don’t do small talk unless your pet starts it. i move quiet. i listen. if your cat wants to be left alone, i respect that. if they want to crawl onto my laptop mid-email, i also respect that.
i’ve lived with cats that don’t blink, cats that steal bread, and cats that needed syringe feeding at 5:27 every morning. i write their schedules on sticky notes, i clean litterboxes like a ritual, and sometimes i just sit nearby so they know they’re not alone. no routines too weird. no moods too much.

i like the feeling when a cat who hated me yesterday decides to nap on my chest. there’s something holy in that. something earned. i don’t need to be needed. i just like being trusted.
